I purchased two of these from Amazon, not that it matters, but as I was going through the instructions, I couldn't find where to hook the wires up so that it was integrated with my Chamberlain garage door opener. The packaging clearly states in two locations on the front that it not only works with your Chamberlain garage access system but also with all brands of access systems. So I called the help number on the instructions to find out where on my opener to connect the wires. After waiting on hold for, no kidding, 50 minutes, I got someone that really didn't know what I was talking about. Trying to explain for yet another 35 min what I wanted to do I was told the universal CLULP1 parking assist won't hook up that way to your openers. So I said, "You're telling me that the packaging is false"? They said yes and that I would have to get the CLLP1 in order to make it work.Well, they don't know what they're talking about. I figured it out on my own.Mount the unit in a manner to where the led light will be close to where you would want it on your vehicle once you power it up.Now run the wires to the opener and place them where they won't get caught in the belt, chain, or screw drive. (What ever opener you have). So the wires to your safety sensors, (The ones that retract the door in case something is in the way), need to be unplugged from the motor. Now cut about six inches of wire off of the end of your new led light and separate the two wires. They will pull apart leaving a white wire and white and black stripe wire. Strip the insulation back about 3/4 if an inch on both sides of the six inch wires.Set the six inch wires off to the side and find the wire to your park assist. With the wires from the PA, roll up the extra wire or cut to fit leaving enough to work with. The PA wires need to reach the wires from the sensors by the motor. Now find the orange wire nuts that were in the PA packaging. Using the wire nuts, take the two black stripe wires from the sensors, the black stripe wire from the PA, and the black stripe six inch wire and combine them together using the wire nut.Do the same process with the white wires. What's left now is bare wire ends on your six inch wires that go into the motor. White in the white spot and the black stripe in the colored spot. Chamberlain openers have a white spot for the white wire and a gray spot for the black stripe wire. The PA laser beam will flash when working. If it isn't working, try braking the beam between the safety sensors to activate the PA. It should be a timed delay to shut off the PA when not needed. Now all you have to do is aim your PA light on your vehicle in a spot that works for you.Well, that's the best help I can give you. It worked for me this way and it works great and sure beats the tennis ball on the string thing. One more thing, be careful on your ladder and wouldn't hurt to unplug your opener till your all done hooking up your parking assist!?We added these to a Genie screw driver opener, but really if you don't have a Champerlain opener with the dedicated input for these laser lights then all installs will be the same. Your objectives is to:a. Mount each light on the ceiling with a single screw. We mounted two lights because we had two parking spaces in our garage.b. Run the wires to the garage door opener control head. We chose to run the wire up through the ceiling and into the crawl space above, and then drill a single 1/4 hole above the door opener and drop them down to the opener through this hole. If you drill the holes at the light end, where the middle of the light will be when mounted, then the wires won't show. A much cleaner installation for very little extra effort.c. Attach the wires to one of your openers bulb socket so the laser lights go on/off with the garage door opener when you open/close the door, and off when the lights automatically turn off. This is made easy by buying a lamp socket to 110v two prong outlet adapter (about 80 cents at the hardware store), taking out one of the bulbs, screwing in the adapter, connect the wires from the laser lights to a single 110v adapter, and then plug this adapter into the outlet adapter. To keep the same level of light in the garage I replaced the 40 watt incandescent bulb with a 75 watt equiv florescent bulb in the one remaining lamp socket. At this point if you open/close the door you'll see the lasers pulsating (blinking).d. This is the hardest part. Park your cars exactly where you want them in the garage. Now, aim the laser at a point on your dashboard which is easy to see. The movements are sensitive so this takes time.. but once set it's permanent and will only need to be done again when/if you change your car or the position you want it parked. We chose a spot on the middle of the top dash pad exactly in the middle so as we pull the car in we can watch it "walk" it's way up the dash and to the location we want.e. Be sure to explain to all drivers how things work. For instance, if the garage door remains open and the lights time out the lasers will go off.. so if the door is open and the car outside, you sweep out the garage or whatever leaving the door open.. then when you put the car inside the laser will not be on. Someone just might keep going forward looking for that light to go on, far enough to hit something in front of the car. :)This product is easy to install. It takes one screw and comes with a drywall screw anchor. So, a phillips screw driver does the job for mounting the laser to the garage ceiling. Now, mine is within a foot of my garage door opening unit, so running the wire through the ceiling seemed unnecessary. Some standard wire connectors come in the box as well, making connecting the wire ends to the garage door unit easy and as simple as possible. As for function, the laser IS NOT on all the time, unless you us the AC adaptor that comes with it. Using the adaptor would mean that the power is coming from an outlet and there is no way your garage door opener can control whether it is on or off. Since it works fine with my opener, I didn't bother with the adaptor (although I kept it just in case). Seeing as openers will differ in compatibility and how much output power they provide to the door's trip laser, you may end up needing the adaptor. Now, for those people saying the laser is faint or too weak to see during daylight, maybe they should use the adaptor because some openers might not provide enough power in order for the laser to work at its best and full potential, seeing as the adapter is made specifically for the parking laser. As for parking using this product, I love it. It is so easy and simple to just look at the flashing dot and creep up until it's within a couple inches of a line on my dashboard. Even my mom can spot the laser and know when she is perfectly in the garage, providing walking space all the way around the vehicle. This thing is also very clean looking and never gets in the way. Plus, unlike the tennis ball method, you can use it for multiple cars of various sizes. You just have to find the spot you want it in and then make sure the laser hits close to it each time you park. It's that simple!Parpadea, no es luz fija. A luz del día intensa no se ve.
