I dislike the Habitrol 4mg lozenges because they make me sick...They keep me running to the bathroom.They are just like the Kirkland”Quit” lozenges which are the only other 4mg lozenges that do the same thing to me.I recommend Habitrol 2mg original lozenges that come on a punchcard though. They are the best! I don’t notice the decreased amount of nicotine and they have never given me any digestive problems. I also like Equate brand 4mg lozenges, as they have never bothered me either.Though I no longer smoke, I'm weaning myself off of vaping, and this has been great to eliminate physical withdrawal symptoms.Each lozenge contains 2mg of nicotine, delivered via mucosa. The intent is for the nicotine to absorb through your mouth, not to swallow it. There is a suggestion to use at least 9 lozenges per day as part of a 12 week plan to wean yourself from nicotine. Habitrol suggests the following schedule:Weeks 1 thru 6: One lozenge every 1-2 hoursWeeks 7 thru 9: One lozenge every 2-4 hoursWeeks 10 and 12: One lozenge every 4-8 hours.And then you're done. In theory, it might work to replace the nicotine craving, but that alone will not help you break the habit of inhaling. For that, I suggest getting an aromatherapy inhaler, or just taking a moment to do some deep breathing exercises. It won't replace the feeling of smoke or vapor, but it will oxygenate you and help curb cravings.The original flavor is sweet with a hint of mint. It's not at all unpleasant. The lozenges don't dissolve well. The instructions say that you can expect it to take 20-30 minutes to dissolve, but during that process they turn almost into a chalky gummy mess that you want to chew up - don't do it. Though only 2mg per lozenge, swallowing 2mg of nicotine doesn't feel nice at all. It feels like burning pins and needles in your esophagus if you swallow it. You've been warned.At the recommended dosing schedule (or with using at least 9/day) you'll need at least 378 lozenges to get through the first 6 weeks. You'd need at least 105 for weeks 7, 8 and 9 and then 28 for your final two weeks. For the whole 12 week program you'll need a minimum of 511 lozenges. With 24 in each bottle, you'll need a minimum of 22 bottles. This product, the Original, is currently priced at $45.6/box, or $9.12/bottle. That's $201 minimum to replace your nicotine over three months and allow you to quit smoking or vaping without going through physical withdrawal. To me, that sounds like a bargain... until you realize that the These Habitrol Nicotine Lozenges arrived wrapped in great shape, with a sealed lid and with nearly 100% of the pills intact. (I think it best to mention this as some reviewers mentioned this as a problem!)As for flavor, I found them to be pretty good! These were mint flavored and tasted like most minty flavors. The only drawback with these lozenges was the “slimy” film they left behind. I do think they helped with my nicotine cravings. I think they gave me an upset stomach when I ate them on an empty stomach, just an FYI. I haven’t had brand name before, but hopefully it’s similar!I've gone through a few different brands of nicotine gum and lozenges (because quitting is so easy and I've done it many times...)Everyone is different but here's what works for me- I definitely prefer lozenges over gum. It's possible I don't know how to chew the gum correctly or maybe I just don't like gum in general.- Nicorette lozenges don't work for me. They are too "tasty" so they make my mouth water which dissolves the lozenge too fast.- These Habitrol lozenges are not bad. They last a while and they satiate the cravings. I can't be sure this is really because of Habitrol but I haven't put on any extra weight.- I personally like the Amazon Basics brand better. Only because the lozenges last a little bit longer.Again, everyone's different and what works for me might not work for you. The first and most important step however is making the decision to quit. So congratulations on making that first step and good luck!I bought this for my hubby. He has gone through a few different brands of nicotine gum and lozenges. But he prefers lozenges better. He orders mostly Amazon Basics brand lozenges. He likes it. This one does the same tricks. Hope he will quit smoking since it's not a easy thing. I will update more if there's problem.These are good lozenges. They do the job of curbing cravings as well as the name brand at a lower price. I like the larger lozenges because it's too easy for me to accidentally swallow the minis. These last a long time, don't burn my mouth and satisfy my cravings. I also tried the mint version of these, and I preferred them. Usually I'm not keen on mint because it's too strong and it burns my mouth, but the mint in this brand is pretty mild; I enjoy the flavor.These definitely work and I'd order them again. All things being equal, though, I prefer the mint.I got these for my father-in-law to help him try to quit smoking. He's been a smoker for the last 50 years. He's tried to quit several times but only once was he successful, for about a year, and he used lozenges to quit that time. On a somewhat recent hunting trip, all of his buddies were smoking, and he ended up starting up again, so I thought it would be a good idea to give these a shot to help him kick the habit again!He loves the taste and the fact that they come in bottles he can toss in his pocket. The only 'complaint' isn't really a complaint, but more a mistake on my part. He should probably have had the stronger, 5mg, ones to start because he said he often finds himself having two at a time. That said, he's not had a cigarette since the day these showed up for him, so clearly, they're helping!As noted above, if you're just starting out, maybe start with the higher-dose ones first and then over time, get yourself to drop down to the lower dose. Otherwise, these have been a great buy and are something I will for sure be ordering for him again!
